A romantic relationship can be a very central part of life – whether you are dating, newlyweds, or have been married for decades. You have lived parts of your lives together, made memories, and shared experiences. You have likely valued and appreciated this relationship during it’s lifetime, but perhaps you’re starting to feel as though things have changed. How Can Couples or Marriage Counseling at
Grow True Help?

*
Common goals
Foundational goals in marriage counseling or couples counseling are often to enhance effective communication skills and improve problem-solving skills. Therapy may include exploration of communication and conflict styles, and teaching of skills that can help individuals engage with their partner with greater understanding and positivity. Therapy may include a focus on the way thoughts and emotions are expressed, perceptions of each other, or ways that you could start working together to address conflict.
*
Refresh & Reconnect
In the chaos of daily life, the reason you chose to build a life together may feel forgotten. Marriage or couples counseling presents an opportunity to refresh the friendship and reconnect to shared meaning. In therapy, we can aim to realign with common goals, enjoyments, dreams, and rituals. I want to help you learn how to increase positive interactions within your relationship, comfort when expressing emotions, and confidence in your ability to support each other through the changes of life. In counseling, I will aim to help you increase acceptance while also incorporating change where it may be most helpful. It is my hope that throughout the course of marriage or couples counseling, you experience greater kindness and compassion for both yourself and your partner.
